2009 RIT Anime Club Tora-Con

Cosplay highlights from the 5th annual ToraCon, RIT Anime Club's own anime convention. 10 years ago, it was a rather humble gathering of motleys compared to well-established interregional events like Baltimore's Otakon, but it weakens not my respect for the people who amidst RIT's fast-paced academic environment, make it happen every year, nor did it stop me attending every time during my undergrad tenure.

In 2005, the Rochester Institute of Technology Anime Club aspired to pull off a feat of unprecedented ambition. It organized and threw its own Japanese pop-culture convention. The following are highlights from the 5th Annual Tora-Con, which I captured during my final year at RIT.

These were the very first anime conventions I ever attended. (Because they were affordable to attend.) I wore my 2009 Tora-Con t-shirt so often that it's next wash cycle will rip it to shreds. I won't wear it again, but it will remain hanging in my closet forever.
